MYST #1: How to Train Your Dragon

After spending some time thinking about what movie I wanted to do in my spare time, the movie "How to Train Your Dragon" appeared on Fox. Never have I seen this movie, I thought to give it a shot because after being bored all day I realized that my day couldn't get any worse. After and hour and and thirty-eight minutes I know had my new favorite movie. That movie became "How to Train Your Dragon."
This is an animated film that is about a son named Hiccup that lives in a viking village and must capture a dragon to prove his manliness and maturity to the village. When Hiccup finds himself to be the weakest link in his training group he becomes the odd ball. One day Hiccup wanders around in a forest and finds a stuck dragon at the bottom of the ditch. This dragon (Toothless) later becomes Hiccup's best friend and helps him find out that all the things that the vikings thought about dragons are not true! I won't give away the full movie but here is the trailer..

This reminds me of an old classic that I used to watch. "Kung Fu Panda" used to be one of my favorite animated films. I am connecting it to "How to Train Your Dragon" because they are both about underdogs that come up from being losers to complete hero's of the town. I think that no matter how old you become you'll never be too old for animation.

  1. Wow, that's awesome that you found a new favorite film--which is why it's so weird that this is so short. I would think you'd have a whole lot more to say about it. What about breaking down a scene for us? What about a few more details? What separates it from the other animation out there? You seem to be missing quite a bit. Keep going!

  2. Wow Emily this is a super awesome review! Its so cool how you can still analyze kids movies but its still a really serious review! I totally love these movies, they make me super happy because I feel like a kid again,,, ya know..? Its a great quote "youre never too old for animation" Theres usually a lot of hidden messages in movies like this. Sneaky! So you have shown that animations are for all audiences, not just children.
